Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly post that is hosted by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes and there is also a Goodreads group where you can find more information. This weeks topic is:
Favorite Publishers:
I haven’t been participating in T5W much lately, the topics weren’t really that interesting to me and I’ve been so busy with other blog stuff, but when I saw this weeks topic I was excited! I have so many favorite publishers, but here are my top 5.
Bookouture
I’ve fangirled over Bookouture plenty of times before, I even featured them in a Saturday Shoutout recently. They’re a U.K. based digital publishing house and they have released some of my favorite books this year. They publish many different genres so I can always find my next read no matter what type of mood I’m in. Some of their fabulous authors include; Caroline Mitchell, Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza, Tom Bale, and Kathryn Croft. Check out their full list here. If you haven’t heard of them check out their website or on NetGalley, there are always tons of books to choose from!
Lake Union
LU is a division of Amazon Publishing and has quickly become one of my most trusted publishers. They focus primarily on Women’s Fiction, Contemporary and Historical Fiction, and popular fiction. Kerry Lonsdale, Catherine McKenzie, Maddie Dawson, Marybeth Whelan and many more authors are published by LU. Check them out on NetGalley as well.
Orenda Books
Orenda is another U.K. based publisher and one that I’ve just recently discovered. I am so happy that I did, they produce quality work with a focus on crime fiction and many works are translated from little known authors. I was blown away by The Bird Tribunal and really liked The Exiled. I’m on the blog tour for The Mine later this week as well. Karen Sullivan is the founder and I have to give her some recognition as she is a true gem. She IS Orenda Books and she works tirelessly for her unique, boutique publishing house. She is also absolutely lovely and I’m so pleased to have “met” her. Check them out here.
Minotaur Books
Minotaur is an imprint of St. Martin’s Press publishing with an emphasis on mystery, suspense and thriller books. I recently read and loved Inherit the Bones by Emily Littlejohn, and they also publish Becky Masterman and many more. Check them out on NetGalley under the St. Martin’s Press header.
Berkley Publishing:
Berkley is an imprint of Penguin Random House and they publish some amazing books! Their authors include; Claire Mackintosh, Mary Torjussen, Fiona Barton, Nora Roberts, Jane Green and many more. They focus on Women’s Fiction, Romance, Mystery, and Sci Fi/Fantasy. They’re also on NetGalley, check them out.
Who are your favorite publishers?
Those are my top 5 as well!

How did I know Bookouture would be on the top of this list? 🙂 I just heard about Orenda this week, and I have had amazing luck with St. Martin’s Press and Berkley (most of the time), but I hadn’t heard of Minotaur. Thanks for giving me new publishers to stalk. I shall add them to my NetGalley account. 🙂

Same about St. Martin’s/Berkley. It’s so weird I’ve been declined on NetGalley from them a handful of times only to have a physical copy show up?! 😂

Yeah, they do the same thing with me. I kept thinking I was insane. I would get approved for mega hyped books no problem, and then one that’s not so hot I would get denied. I couldn’t make sense of it. So weird.

There’s no rhyme or reason to it! I wonder if it just depends on which person is approving and declining stuff day to day. Weird.

Bookouture for sure!! Lake Union too! But thats as far as mine goes as I’m still really new to netgalley. Lol

Though I didn’t mention them, all of the Amazon imprints are great! Thomas and Mercer are their mystery/thriller imprint and they’re publishing a psychological thriller from Caroline Mitchell next month! I’ve had good luck with St. Martin’s Press too.

I think I’ve only requested one or two from St. Martin and go denied. I get denied by Atria all the time. And there’s one other that denies me a lot.

Keep trying, you’ll get lucky one day! As your percentage goes up that’ll help more!

Yeah I’m 4 behind at this point so my percentage looks horrible. I’m gonna get caught up on those before I request more. Plus, I’ll never give up! lol I think 7 approvals in 2-3 months is pretty good. Especially considering I JUST started book blogging in August. And it took me a couple months to be brace enough to request an ARC on Netgalley. lol

Girl I have over 30 on my shelf there you’re doing great!! Most of them aren’t out for months so I’m waiting to review them closer to pub day. That’s not even counting my physical ARCs it’s out of control 😳

lol you get a ton of ARCs. At least you don’t have to purchase books all that much! I’m buying books constantly!

I still do! I have such a problem 😂 usually only cheap ebooks or ones I REALLY want.

Yeah I hear that!! There’s a lot of ebooks I want. But if they are 9.99+ I can’t convince myself to buy it. lol no matter how bad I want it. I typically try to wait for them to go on sale.

No doubt! 5-10 I need to do some convincing. lol I’m glad I’m not the only one. 99 cents is a no brainer. Lol

A great list of publishers – I’d also add Twenty7 an imprint of Bonnier Zaffre who publish debut authors – I’ve got nothing but praise for all of the books I’ve read – they all feel a little bit more original than many mainstream publishers.

I’ve read a few good ones from them too!
