Set It Right by Julia Wolf

A Quiet, Emotional Childhood Friends to Lovers Romance With All the Small Town Wyoming Charm

Goodreads | Set it Right

Release date: August 4, 2026

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

Cormac Kelly was my first best friend…and he broke my heart before I even knew it was his to break.

Every summer of my childhood belonged to Sugar Brush, Wyoming and the boy with pale blue eyes who knew all my secrets. We spent those long, golden days running wild across his family’s ranch, covered in dirt and convinced nothing would ever change.

But things do change. And somewhere along the way, my first best friend became a stranger.

Then the night before my wedding, I accidentally overheard what Cormac really thought of me, pushing me into making the worst decision of my life.

Three years later, I’m divorced and back in Sugar Brush for the summer, working as an outdoor adventure guide and hoping this will be the fresh start I need.

But Cormac still lives on the ranch. And he’s impossible to avoid.

He’s there when I need help. When I need a steady hand. And the gentle way he looks at me now doesn’t match the cruel words I heard him say that night.

The more time we spend together, the harder it becomes to remember why we ever walked away from each other.

When one unexpected kiss sparks a passion neither of us saw coming, I start to question everything I thought I knew.

Did I misunderstand the night that changed everything?

Did we let the best thing in our lives slip away?

And more importantly…how can I let myself fall for Cormac when we both know this summer is all the time we have?

Review:

I have been waiting for Cormac’s story, so getting to finally see him get his happily ever after was such a satisfying way to finish the series. His history with Zara gave this romance such a strong foundation. They weren’t just two people meeting and falling for each other—they had years of memories, a deep friendship, and all those complicated feelings that come with knowing someone almost your entire life.

The pining was GOOD, and so was the hesitation. There’s that constant fear of ruining the friendship or making another mistake, which gave their slow burn a really natural quality. This felt like a very quiet, grounded, authentic romance, and I loved that. Julia Wolf continues to do such a great job getting inside her characters and exploring their emotional sides, and there were definitely some moments here that hit me right in the feelings.

The romance was just as strong as the first three books, and I really appreciated how each couple has had their own distinct story while still feeling connected to the larger Kelly Ranch world. Add in another little dash of suspense and danger, and there’s just enough tension outside the relationship to keep things moving without taking away from the romance.

And, of course, I loved returning to Sugar Brush, Wyoming one last time. The small town setting has been one of my favorite parts of this series, and by book four it really feels like a place I’ve spent some time getting to know. There’s something so easy and immersive about the way Wolf builds this community and the Kelly family around these romances.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Emma Wilder and Sean Masters, and at this point I’ve run out of new ways to tell you how much I love listening to them together. 😂 They have become such a natural fit for this series, and after four books, their voices feel completely intertwined with the Sugar Brush world and these characters. They bring so much emotion and nuance to the stories, especially during those quieter moments when the characters are finally letting their guards down.

Set It Right was a really lovely conclusion to the Kelly Ranch series. I enjoyed all four books for different reasons, and I’m leaving Sugar Brush very happy with how everything wrapped up. This was my first series by Julia Wolf, but it definitely won’t be my last—I’ll be seeking out more from her.
