Fall Festival Romances

Harvest Festivals, Hayrides & Happily Ever Afters: 10 Romances Perfect for Fall

There’s something about a fall festival that is practically begging to become the setting for a romance novel. Pumpkin patches, apple orchards, hayrides, corn mazes, harvest celebrations, baked goods—and, ideally, two people finding an excuse to kiss somewhere in the middle of all of it.

So naturally, I went looking for romances where the fall festival isn’t just mentioned in passing. I wanted books filled with actual autumn activities and settings: harvest festivals, pumpkin patches, apple picking, corn mazes, fall fundraisers and all the small-town seasonal chaos I could find.

Some of these I’ve read myself and others I discovered while searching for this very specific fall reading mood, but all ten deliver the kind of autumn atmosphere that makes me want to put on a sweater regardless of what the temperature outside is doing.

Want all the fall festival romances in one place? 🍂💕
I put all 10 together on my so you can browse the whole list at once.

The Honeycrisp Orchard Inn by Valerie Bowman

This is one I’ve actually read and loved, and it was one of the first books I thought of for this list.

Event planner Ellie returns to her family’s apple orchard in a small town and ends up working alongside Aiden, the man running the orchard—and helping pull off its big Harvest Festival. Between the gorgeous orchard setting, festival planning, small-town atmosphere and romance, this has exactly the kind of cozy fall energy I want this time of year.

Pumpkin Spice and Promises by Nora Everly

Saving the family farm by putting on a Harvest Festival? You already have my attention.

The festival is a major part of this small town romance, complete with all the autumn activities you could want—including a Mr. Pumpkin pageant, which frankly feels like information I should have led with. 😂 If you want something light, seasonal and fully committed to the fall festival assignment, this one belongs on the list.

A Match Made in Autumn by Jessica Booth

Nothing creates romantic possibilities quite like organizing a town’s annual fall festival.

This one puts its heroine right in the middle of the seasonal festivities, giving us plenty of small town autumn atmosphere alongside the romance. It’s exactly the kind of book I was hunting for when I started putting together this very specific list.

From Best Friend to Husband by Lucy McConnell

The Harvest Ranch Fall Festival comes prepared with basically my entire fall bucket list.

We’re talking craft booths, a giant pumpkin contest and even a corn maze with kissing alcoves. KISSING ALCOVES. Apparently this fictional town takes its responsibility to facilitate seasonal romance very seriously, and I respect that. 😂

Love at the Fall Festival by Belle Bailey

If your book is literally called Love at the Fall Festival, congratulations—you’ve earned perhaps the most obvious spot on this entire list. 😂

After losing her job, event planner Brynn Townsend heads to the small Tennessee town of Sugar Maple, where she’s hired to help save historic Oakleaf Manor by putting together a fall festival. There’s just one problem: Jack, the owner’s stubborn son, has plenty of reasons to believe the plan will fail. Between the gorgeous autumn setting, close-knit small town, family property in need of saving and romance developing right in the middle of the festival preparations, this one understood the assignment.

Fall at Once by Nora Everly

Apparently event planners are the unsung heroes of fall romance novels, because here’s another one tasked with making autumn magic happen.

This time, the heroine finds herself working with a single dad firefighter on the fire brigade’s annual Fall Fundraiser. Community event planning, small town atmosphere and a single dad? The fall festival has once again done excellent matchmaking work.

Falling Like Leaves by Misty Wilson

This one does not give us a single fall festival. It gives us a month long Falling Leaves Festival.

Apple picking, pumpkin carving, a corn maze, seasonal activities and even a Pumpkin Prom are all part of the festivities. It’s a YA romance, so it brings a slightly different energy to the list, but the sheer quantity of fall content earned it an immediate spot.

Something About September by Julia McKay

Welcome to Bramley Hollow, where the annual Autumn Festival apparently decided one fall event wasn’t enough.

The festivities include a midway, baking contests, giant vegetable competitions, a dance and plenty of small-town activity. Add a diner, second chance romance and single dad storyline, and this has all kinds of things working in its favor.

Fall vibes: Autumn fair • Second chance • Single dad

Flirty Fall Fling by Lyra Parish

This one brings us an apple orchard, a hay maze and a romance with an expiration date: Halloween.

There’s even a haunted manor thrown into the mix, giving this one a little more spooky season flavor than some of the others on the list. It’s a fun option for readers who want their fall romance to lean a little closer to Halloween without leaving the kissing behind.

The Sugar Maple Inn by Laura Bloom

Sometimes the universe just hands you exactly the book you need.

I was already putting this list together when I started reading The Sugar Maple Inn, and within the first couple of chapters there I was at a town harvest festival surrounded by cider, baked fall treats and seasonal coffees. 😂 Needless to say, I immediately added it.

With its cozy inn setting and abundance of fall atmosphere, this one is basically making a case for itself as I read.

Fall vibes: Harvest festival • Cozy inn • Cider & baked goods

Apparently the quickest route to true love is not a dating app. It’s volunteering at your town’s annual harvest festival and getting strategically lost in a corn maze. 😂

Whether you want apple orchards and pumpkin patches, festival planning and baking contests, or just two people falling in love while the leaves change around them, these romances deliver plenty of autumn atmosphere along with their happily ever afters.

Basically, consider this your permission to spend fall reading about fictional people kissing at festivals instead of attending one yourself. 🍂🎡💕
