This weeks topic is Characters You Would Want As Family.

The Weasley family is kind of a no brainer, because magic! I’m sure they’ll be on many lists today. But they’re also so fun and warm, who wouldn’t want to have them as a surrogate family?!

I’ve raved before about how much I love the Blue Heron series by Kristan Higgins and part of the reason I love them so much is because of the Holland family. First of all, they own a vineyard! What’s better than wine?! Nothing except wine and a book of course. They’re a little bit dysfunctional but in an endearing way. Maybe I have a thing for large, crazy, loud families?

I just think the entire Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella is adorable and the entire Bloomwood family is a big part of why I love these books! Becky is such a love able goof ball with all of her wacky schemes and her parents are so sweet and dear!

I’m a sucker for a James Patterson series and one of my favorites is the Michael Bennett series. He’s a widower police detective with ten kids and his family is just as crazy as you would imagine. But they are love each other fiercely and all of the Bennett kids are just adorable and amazing.

I’m feeling nostalgic mainly because my oldest daughter just started reading Ramona and Beezus. This is one of the first books that I remember reading on my own as well of one of the books from my childhood that has always stuck with me. It really made me into the readaholic that I am today. The Quimby family is quirky, funny and Ramona is a riot, I would love to have them as family!

What fictional families who you like to be a part of?

This weeks topic is Books You Will Never Read. It can be a book series that you’ve outgrown or maybe just a popular book that you have no interest in.

I think this is a pretty unpopular choice, but I’m pretty confident in this pick. I see this everywhere, especially on social media. This series is so hyped up and I’m so sick of hearing about it and seeing it everywhere that I just refuse to read it. I’m sure it’s a great book, but the fact that I’m sick of it before I’ve even read one word means I should just stay away.

Yes, I bought into the hype surrounding this one and I’m ashamed to admit I read it! I do not have any desire to continue on reading more about Ana and Christian though. It’s so bad. For some people I guess it’s so bad that it’s good?

Anything by John Green. I’m just over him and his books. There is so much fantastic YA stuff out there that I would rather spend my precious reading time with a different author.

Anything by Janet Evanovich. I had high hopes for Curious Minds as Evanovich is an author who I’ve been hearing about for years. It was a huge disappointment for me so I’ll be steering clear of her from now on.

I’ve had this sitting on my bookshelf for years and I’ve tried to start it before and I just can’t. I think it’s time to face the facts that I most likely will never read it.

What books will you never read?

This weeks topic is Books You Want To Read Before The End Of The Year. I’m going to focus on books that are my TBR pile but that aren’t on my schedule yet. Yes, I have a schedule and order in which I read my books. Is that weird? It’s the only way I can stay on top of my review requests and due dates and stuff. I’m getting sidetracked here, maybe this should be a discussion post for later…

This one is a no brainer for me. I’m dying to read it, yet part of me is afraid that maybe I’ll be underwhelmed or disappointed? I know I will get to it, I want to read it, I’m just not in a huge rush.

I keep hearing fantastic things about this book and about Kasie West in general, so I plan on getting to this one within the next few months.

Another one that I see everywhere and hear nothing but great things about. No reason I haven’t started it, it’s sitting on my bookshelf. I will make room for it soon!

Every time I walk by my bookshelf this one catches my eye. The cover is just gorgeous and it also sounds amazing! What the hell am I waiting for?!

Finally, this one is another just sitting on my shelf looking all pretty. I see it everywhere, I really need to read this one!
Looks like I chose some pretty lighthearted books for my list! What books do you guys plan on reading before the end of the year? Do we have any in common?

P. S. This was an easy week for me, I could have added like 50 more books 😂

This weeks topic is Favorite First Sentences. I decided to use books that are currently on my bookshelves this week, mainly because it was easy for me to flip through them, then take pictures of the first line. Some of these books are still on my TBR and are only based on my initial impression of the first line.

Favorite First Sentences:

First up is The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel. In case you can’t quite read that, the first line says; The heat came with the devil. So simple and yet so interesting to me.

Next pick is 14 Days to Die by A. B. Whelan. It says; It was a fine winter day that eighth of February when I decided to kill my husband. Wow, this is coming up in my TBR list soon and after reading that killer opening line I’m so excited to read it!

Shatter Me is my next pick, doesn’t that line make you desperate to know why she’s been locked up for so long?! It says; I’ve been locked up for 264 days.

This Savage Song is my next choice, it says; The night Kate Harker decided to burn down the school chapel, she wasn’t angry or drunk. Hello, attention grabber!

Did you guys really think I was going to make a list and not include It Ends With Us? 😂 It says; As I sit here with one foot one either side of the ledge, looking down from twelve stories above the streets of Boston, I can’t help but think about suicide.

What are your favorite first lines?
