This isn’t a list of everything I’m reading or every book being released, it’s a curated collection of the titles I’d actually recommend you make room for on your fall TBR.

Give me a fictional stack of emails, texts, messages, and correspondence and I am immediately in full on nosy mode. The Silent Appeal takes that irresistible epistolary format and turns it into a clever, twisty mystery surrounding an amateur theater group preparing to perform Agatha Christie’s The Hollow.
Between suspicious newcomers, strained relationships, blackmail, hidden motives, and plenty of characters who seem to be hiding something, there is no shortage of suspects. I especially loved trying to piece everything together alongside Femi and Charlotte as they questioned whether the right person had actually been arrested. It’s exactly the kind of mystery that lets you play detective right alongside the characters—and if you’re a fan of Agatha Christie vibes and deliciously nosy storytelling, this one should absolutely be on your radar.

Kristan Higgins delivers the kind of deeply character driven fiction that pulls you into the lives of its characters and then refuses to let you go. The Me I Used to Be brings four former best friends back together for their twenty fifth high school reunion, where old secrets, unresolved heartbreak, and the complicated history they share begin to surface.
The dual timelines work beautifully, gradually peeling back layers of their shared history while exploring friendship, family, grief, forgiveness, and the complicated ways our past continues to shape who we become. It’s emotional and at times devastating, but Higgins balances the heavier moments with warmth, humor, and connection. The ending left me sitting in my feelings long after the final page, and this is exactly the kind of thought provoking, emotional story that would make an excellent book club pick.

🍂 Falling For Peachtree Bluff

It had been a while since I’d visited Peachtree Bluff, but I slipped right back into the Murphy family’s world as though no time had passed. And honestly, that’s one of my favorite things about returning to a long running series: getting to spend time with characters who already feel like old friends.
There’s plenty of drama here—weddings, relationship complications, personal struggles, scandals, family secrets, and enough gossip to keep everyone very busy—but it’s balanced beautifully with Southern charm, humor, warmth, and the close knit family dynamics that make this series so comforting. With multiple storylines weaving in and out of one another, Falling for Peachtree Bluff has all the juicy family drama I want from this series while still feeling warm and familiar. And with its cozy small town atmosphere, it turned out to be a perfect fall read.

💗 Thank You For Remembering

Thank You for Remembering is the kind of soft, tender romance that feels like a warm hug. Marnie wakes up with no memory of the previous year of her life and has to piece together what happened, not just by retracing the events of that missing year, but by figuring out who she became during it.
The amnesia premise adds a fun mystery element, but what really stayed with me was the emotional heart of the story. Marnie’s journey through grief and healing after losing her grandmother gives the book a deeper layer beneath its light, breezy romance, while Ben provides the kind of steady, comforting presence I always appreciate. I also loved the Boston setting and Allyson Ryan’s warm audiobook narration. Predictable in places? Sure. But sometimes a sweet, comforting book that lets you enjoy the journey is exactly what you need.

🔪 It’s Not What You You Think

If you like your thrillers twisty without becoming unnecessarily complicated, It’s Not What You Think deserves a spot on your September list. Nadeeka is convinced her partner is having an affair, but when she goes to confront him, she finds him dead—and suddenly nothing is as straightforward as it seemed.
The less you know going in, the better, because there are plenty of twists and surprises waiting to unfold. I particularly enjoyed the characterization and police procedural elements, with multiple POVs that gave the story plenty of perspectives without becoming overwhelming. And if you’re an audiobook reader, this one is especially worth a listen: the full cast production featuring Richard Armitage, Samuel Barnett, Tuppence Middleton, and Vineeta Rishi made the shifting perspectives feel natural and immersive.

🎃 The Pumpkin Vice Cafe

If peak fall coziness is what you’re after, it’s going to be very hard to beat Pumpkin Vice Café. Book 23 in Ellie Alexander’s Bakeshop Mysteries returns readers to Ashland, Oregon, where Torte is overflowing with autumn flavors, seasonal treats, dreamy lattes, and all the crisp Oregon scenery you could want from a September read.
Jules is nearing her due date with twins, Lance and Arlo are preparing for their wedding, and the Torte crew is planning a baby shower, but naturally, everything gets interrupted when a high end wedding planner turns up dead. The mystery is clever and genuinely kept me guessing, but it’s the characters, food, fall atmosphere, and ongoing relationships that made this one such a standout for me. I’ve binged the entire series over the past year, and this is officially one of my favorites.

If you want a book that makes you feel like a teenager again—in the absolute best way—add Trust Fall to your list. Lynn Painter brings her signature witty banter, romantic tension, awkward first love energy, and swoony YA romance to a gorgeous New York City in the fall setting.
Julia was easily my favorite part of this story: awkward, relatable, adorable, and suddenly dropped into a world of private schools, wealth, and NYC. And while Damion wasn’t quite love at first sight for me, he eventually won me over, as Lynn Painter’s heroes tend to do. Beneath all the fun and romance is a thoughtful thread about grief and figuring out who you are, giving the story more emotional depth without taking away from its charm. Basically: banter, butterflies, fall in NYC, and all the YA rom-com feelings.
