Release date: October 6, 2026

Publisher: Harper/Harper Audio

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Narrators: Will Damron and Lauren Fortgang

Synopsis:

A second-chance romance following a young woman who wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past six years, only to find that she apparently married the one man she can’t stand—her arrogant and infuriating former boarding school rival.

Molly Graham’s day can’t possibly get any worse after she wakes up in a hospital bed with a head injury and amnesia. But then Aster Bishop—the Aster Bishop who made her life hell at boarding school—storms into her room calling her his wife.

To Molly’s shock, in the six years she no longer recalls, she somehow fell in love with a man she once despised. Persuaded by her lifelong friends to give her new reality a chance, she reluctantly returns to the home she and Aster share to try and piece together her life.

So much has changed, not least the considerate and devastatingly handsome man who spends every night sleeping on the sofa to avoid making her uncomfortable. This Aster is nothing like the entitled boy she once knew. Their chemistry is undeniable, but he’s distant with her, infuriatingly so. It’s clear he has secrets, and Molly can’t stand it. Especially knowing that she might never regain her memories.

That she fell in love with Aster Bishop once is hard enough to believe. But to fall in love again? To promise a future, always, when she can’t remember her past? It feels impossible when faced with a man she hardly knows and isn’t sure she can trust.

And yet…

Review:

Imagine waking up with six years of your life missing, only to discover you’re married to the man you couldn’t stand at boarding school. That’s the reality Molly faces in Once Again, Always, and I loved how complicated that premise becomes. There’s the question of how she fell in love with Aster in the first place, but also the much harder task of figuring out who she is now when she can only remember who she used to be.

Molly is a complex character, and there were definitely moments when I questioned her decisions. But honestly, how do I know what I would do if I suddenly lost years of my own life? That uncertainty made it easier to sit with her choices, even when they frustrated me. Aster could be equally frustrating, and that’s a big part of why this worked so well for me. They’re messy, imperfect people navigating an incredibly difficult situation, and their reactions felt authentic rather than conveniently shaped around the romance.

This is a slow burn with plenty of yearning, but the emotional depth was what kept me invested. Rebuilding a relationship when only one person remembers it creates such an uneven starting point, and I enjoyed watching Molly and Aster try to find their way toward each other. The secondary characters were another highlight, giving the story a strong sense of friendship and found family beyond the central relationship.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Will Damron and Lauren Fortgang. I’ve only heard each of them a handful of times, but they both gave great performances here. There’s a lot of nuance in these characters, and they captured the frustration, vulnerability, and emotional weight so well. Overall, this was a strong debut, and I really enjoyed my time with it.

Perfect for readers who love:

  • Emotional second chance romances
  • Former rivals falling in love
  • Slow burns with plenty of yearning
  • Messy, complicated characters
  • Found family and strong supporting characters
  • Audiobooks with nuanced performances

Overall rating: 4/5
